A little more about me...


Viviana Palacios graduated with a BFA in computer animation and a minor in photography from Ringling College of Art and Design Hired before graduation by veteran visual effects house VIFX in LA, she began her career as an FX TD on feature films (Jingle all the Way & Volcano). Her experience includes work at Sony Imageworks(Contact), Comedy Central's South Park, Rhythm & Hues Studios (Babe2, Mystery Men, Stuart Little 1&2, MIB 2, Xmen 2, The Rundown, Elf, Garfield 1&2, & Charlotte's Web to name a few), ILM (Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End), CafeFX (The Mist, Nim's Island, Speed Racer, & Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland), Rising Sun Pictures (Harry Potter - The Half Blood Prince), Image Engine (District 9), Animal Logic (Legend of the Guardians, The Lego 2 Movie, DC's Super Pets) Method Studios Vancouver (Man on a Ledge & J. Edgar) The Embassy VFX (Battleship), Sony Imageworks Canada (Hotel Transylvania, Smurfs 2, The Emoji Movie, Hotel Transylvania 3) Prime Focus World (Non Stop, Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For), Scanline VFX (Furious 7) & Cinesite Animation (The Addams Family). She is also the founder of TheScratchpost.com, and artist resource e-zine that lived online for 17 years, until she decided to move it over to social media in June 2014. After 20 years of being in the film industry, she decided to change the scenery to work in the games industry and was 1 of the 3 lighters that worked in the cinematics team for Gears of War 4 at THE COALITION.

While between film projects, she freelanced as a designer for various web companies. Most notably as the Sr. Designer at Magnet Interactive West on the award winning website for auto manufacturers Nissan and Infiniti, and at Deutsch LA as an Art Director for clients such as Coors, Mitsubishi, TGI Fridays, Mexicali, and Real California Cheese.

From 2014-2016, she was the website design alchemist and contributing artist for the Rascal Art Event, an annual Vancouver based event that showcased personal art created by those working within the creative industries. She is also the Vancouver Chapter Mentorship Lead for WIA (Women in Animation), teaches portfolio classes at Think Tank Training Centre and has been a mentor for her alma mater Ringling College of Art and Design, to help guide new talent interested in the vfx industry.

Viv lives in Vancouver, BC with her husband and 2 cats, Gryffin and Gimli.
